Thanks to this trick your house will never stop smelling: 2 ingredients are enough…

There’s something special about opening your front door and being greeted by a clean, pleasant scent. A fresh-smelling home can feel more comfortable and relaxing, but kitchen odors, shoes, garbage, damp fabrics, and closed spaces can make it challenging to maintain that freshness.

The good news is that you don’t need expensive candles, air fresheners, or strong chemical sprays. A simple homemade deodorizer can be made with just two basic ingredients: baking soda and essential oil. It’s affordable, easy to prepare, and useful in many areas around the home.

Baking soda is commonly used to help absorb unwanted odors, while essential oil provides a pleasant fragrance. Together, they create a simple mixture that can be placed in small spaces where unpleasant smells tend to develop.
To make it, place about ½ cup of baking soda in a small, open container. Add 10–15 drops of your favorite essential oil, then stir thoroughly so the oil is distributed throughout the baking soda. Choose lemon or orange for a bright scent, lavender for a softer aroma, or peppermint and eucalyptus for a crisp, refreshing fragrance.

Place the container in areas that could use extra freshness, such as the kitchen, bathroom, entryway, shoe storage area, laundry room, or closet. Keep it somewhere stable and out of reach of children and pets, and avoid placing it where the mixture could easily be knocked over.

For the best results, address the source of the odor first. Clean garbage bins, remove spoiled food, wash damp towels, dry wet shoes, and improve ventilation. A deodorizer works much better when lingering odors are not constantly being produced.

The fragrance will gradually fade over time. When this happens, simply stir the mixture and add a few more drops of essential oil. If the baking soda becomes damp or absorbs strong odors, replace it with a fresh batch rather than continuing to reuse the same mixture.

This inexpensive two-ingredient deodorizer won’t make your house smell fresh forever, but regular replacement can help keep small areas smelling cleaner and more pleasant. It’s a straightforward alternative when you want a gentle, homemade way to freshen your living space.
