White House Dismisses Rumors Linking Palm Beach Jet Crash to Trump Attack
The White House on Monday formally dismissed speculation that the fatal private jet crash in Palm Beach County on Sunday was an assassination attempt or targeted attack on President Donald J. Trump, calling the rumors floating online “entirely unfounded.”
Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt addressed the tragedy during a press briefing, emphasizing that federal investigators have found zero evidence linking the catastrophic incident to the President or malicious intent.
“The President and the entire administration extend their deepest condolences to the families of the nine individuals who lost their lives in this horrific tragedy,” Leavitt said. “While we understand the public’s heightened sensitivity given the crash’s proximity to Mar-a-Lago, we want to be absolutely clear: there is no indication whatsoever of foul play, a security breach, or an attack targeting the President.”
The administration noted that President Trump had safely departed Palm Beach International Airport aboard Air Force One roughly an hour prior to the crash.
National security officials and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have echoed the White House’s stance, pointing instead to extreme weather, severe moderate-to-heavy turbulence, and freezing temperatures as the primary factors being investigated in the Learjet 60’s sudden, tragic descent.
