An escalating investigation is underway in Palm Beach County, Florida, following the tragic crash of a private Learjet 60 on Sunday afternoon that left nine people dead.
The twin-engine aircraft, which departed from Austin, Texas, bound for the Bahamas, encountered severe thunderstorms and violent turbulence before plunging nose-first into a busy six-lane commercial roadway in Greenacres, roughly seven miles from Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate.

Distressing cockpit audio captured the flight crew’s final moments as they radioed air traffic control, reporting they were battling heavy ice and descending at a catastrophic rate of 10,000 feet per minute. Moments later, the plane impacted Military Trail, triggering a massive explosion near the entrance of a local mobile home park.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis confirmed that all nine passengers and crew members on board perished in the crash. Remarkably, officials reported no fatalities or injuries to anyone on the ground, though the impact ripped open water lines, caused widespread infrastructure damage, and forced the emergency evacuation of approximately 600 nearby residents. Air Force One had safely departed from the area just an hour prior to the incident.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the FAA have deployed teams to the crash site to recover the aircraft’s flight recorders and determine the exact cause of the disaster. Authorities state that Military Trail will remain closed for at least 30 days as federal investigators clear the wreckage and crews rebuild the destroyed roadway.
